Hi everyone, so I decided to start a copepods culture to feed my fish. I started 2 different cultures, one is Tisbe pods and the 2nd is Trigger pods both are in identical containers, using the same saltwater mix.

The Tisbe culture is doing great and growing like crazy. However; the Trigger pods keep dying, when I get them they were alive in the container, I added half of it to the culture jar after I acclimated them for temperature and salinity but once I added them to the jar they will die the next day. I changed the water with new fresh mix and did the same thing and they died again. I purchased a new batch of them and started again but still died!!

Anyone could give me a clue on why the Tisbe one is doing great and the Trigger one is not? please help

Depending on where these Tigriopus californicus copepods where collected, it might be because of temperature. Some come from the northern pacific and are less tolerant of warmer temperatures.

That's all I really have on them.

That’s good to know, I am keeping them in room temperature which about 70, wonder if I should make the water temperature higher?
