Trigger sump baffle foam

What could I use instead of the black foam in the section between fuge and the return chamber on a trigger sump?

The water going over sounds like a waterfall so I want to add something to help break up the waterfall sound.

I was thinking the filter floss aka pillow stuffing ? I used it a lot when I had freshwater tanks, it’s cheap and when it gets dirty you can just toss it.

Would this be a good choice?

Yeah I don’t see why that wouldn’t work. Just have to keep eye on how dirty it gets and replace as needed.
