I received my first Triton test on a 9 month old Red Sea 170 mixed reef. Using Red Sea reef salt and Aquaforest Comp 123 for Ca, Alk and Mg. Test results showed everything in the green except for really high chromium and mercury.

Searching for any metal contacting water in my tank I found the aluminum mount for the single AI prime was submerged about an inch or so into the water in the overflow because I had installed it backwards with the vertical arm exposed on the interior of the tank. Before I switched it around I raised it up a bit grabbed a shot below. The silver color is what was exposed to the tank water.

As far as I can tell this is the most likely culprit but I'm curious if this item would leach mercury and chromium while the test showed 0 aluminum? If not the metal itself maybe the black coating?

Is this something that water changes alone can alleviate or do I need something to soak up/neutralize these metals?
