So I came down last night to check on the tank and saw that my Trochus snails have bred. I counted over 100 babies all over my rockwork (already have formed shells and most are about 1-2mm in diameter.

I never thought snails could make me so happy lol.

I’ve taken 15 of the babies out to grow out in some peace in the refugium, the rest will stay in the DT, hopefully not too many will get eaten!

A lot of my rockwork is pretty new (3 months old) hence the green algae (I actually think it is coralline and in the stage prior to it turning purple/pink).

Anyone else had success breeding Trochus snails?

My turbos did that. I have no idea how many babies there were, but there are quite a few that have grown from tiny grain of sand size to about the size of a pea

My trochus snails breed also, and do quite well! It’s great that such a useful CUC snail reproduces readily. Here’s a pic of what looks like some spawning.

Mine have had babies as well. I’m so excited too, but At same time also kinda nervous that they will find their way into my pumps.

I think some losses are inevitable, but once they’re large enough to notice, they tend to do well. I haven’t seen any predation by my damsel, fire fish, ocelaris, or goby (a little low on fish right now!).

I have picked a few out of my canister filter but they were no worse for the wear.

They grow briskly.

Mine also breed occasionally, they actually bred within the first month or so of the tank having them. In fact, they haven't really bred much lately. Some definitely got picked off by hermit crabs, and I think others just died from the lack of food (because I ended up with so many).
