I'm adding sand to an established bare bottom reef. I have numerous trochus and turbo snails, some of which hide under the rock work during the day. The sandbed is going to be rather shallow at around an inch in depth. Will those snails be able to get themselves out from under the rock work if they're surrounded by that shallow layer? Or should I try to get them out and onto the glass?

They will most likely get out but I would try and not bury when you add the sand. Just gently pull them off and place them higher before adding the sand.
