Hello everyone,

I am mixing Tropic Marin All for Reef Powder with RODI water in the amount as instructed. I commonly see it mixed in an open top container with a magnetic stirrer, but I am wondering if it would be fine to mix by shaking a mixing container in the correct ratios. Could this cause precipitation or any other issues? I have it mixed in a BRS mixing jug and I have gotten rid of any particles at the bottom of the container through vigorous shaking. Any comments or advice?

Best,
Josh

I don’t think you’ll have any issues if you’re dissolving everything, I do know that you have to add the powder to the water. If you measure out the powder, put it in the jug and then add the water you’ll run into issues. I got a stirrer for the convenience honestly. You can get a beaker and a stirrer off Amazon pretty cheap. The only drawback on the stirrer is I can only make 1000 ml at a time.
