The mix instructions for balling say 5 scoops to 5 liters of RODI water.
As my dosing containers are only 450ml, and currently don’t have the space for larger containers. Am I incorrect in just using a 1:1 scoop to liter ratio to mix smaller amounts?

Yes I’m incorrect? If that’s the case then what should I do differently? Or do you mean yes 1:1 and 1 scoop to 1 liter?
I am only asking a possibly simple question to avoid mistakes by making assumptions with my reef. Your reply as it is comes across as sarcastic and is not helpful. I just want to make sure I don’t make mistakes with my reef by making assumptions, so I occasionally ask questions from others who may know more than I. Please feel free to elaborate on your reply and be more specific on your explanation.

I don’t think they meant to be sarcastic. Just too quick to answer. The math shows that the ratio is 1:1 in that 1 scope to 1 litre. So if you’re going to make 450 ml. You’d have to use just shy of a 1/2 scoop. For complete transparency, I don’t have a clue about Tropic Marin products. I’m just looking at the math you provided.

He meant simply that you were correct. It is correct. You can scale it up or down as you need to for your dosing reservoirs. I make up about 1.5 L at a time to fit the glass milk bottles I use.

I do it by weight. I actually use 160 g dry product to 900 g water since that’s how I initially read the directions.

Thank you for the explanation. I do appreciate it. I have just found it to be better to ask questions rather than make assumptions about most things. Even more so when it comes to the health of my tanks.
