I purchased a used 40w aqua ultra classic and just got around to setting it up.
I don’t see the cap glowing so I believe either the bulb or the transformer is bad, how could I figure out and test either to see which needs to be replaced?
The sterilizer was sold with a “New Bulb” which was shipped in the original tube, just fyi.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Using a multimeter, the bulb seems good. It makes the noise on a multimeter.
I just can’t figure out how to test the power supply? Anyone have an idea on how to test this w/a multimeter?

The noise? Are you saying the resistance is within range for the bulb?

Yes, the multimeter is reading reading the bulb is still good. Making the noise when both probes are reading a closed loop in bulb.

I personally would just buy a new bulb.....not like it won't be used eventually. I have had a ton of issues with UV units over the years just like that and it was the bulb 100% of the time.

Well… I seen there was a sale and purchased the more expensive transformer…

Definitely do not do what was mentioned above regarding the multimeter. It is possible the connection between the bulb and the cord cap is not seated properly.

Already did unfortunately. Thankfully, I’m still here😅.
I did however, purchase a replacement bulb and transformer. Hopefully it’s just the bulb…
