Hey guys, so I just wanted to take a few minutes and share an amazing experience I got to share with a member here. Now, this is just one of quite a few members here that go above and beyond for everyone here for us. This is a statement of faith, commitment, and a chance to share a part of her expertise with me. GH Saltie started caring for an orange spot rabbit fish a while back. The fish was in pretty bad shape. She qt'd him and medicated him back to health. I'll share the link when I can look it up. Now, the part that truly inspired me. She posted here if anyone wanted him since she couldn't keep him long term. I told her I did and that he'd make a great addition in my 300g reef. She then let him finish up qt and observed for a couple of weeks just to make sure all was well. She shipped the fish on wednesday evening and he arrived to me on Thursday morning. Here's the kicker.. she paid 198 dollars to ship the fish to me out of her pocket. She only asked that I pay 60 for it. Wow. Who goes above and takes their commitment to that level not only in our hobby but most importantly in life. Not only has she shown grace, she's shown that she absolutely doesn't take our truly unique hobby for granted and that she takes pride in caring for the animals we get to keep. That to me is truly inspiring guys. Just thought I'd share this with you guys, this is what makes our community here at R2R a great place and our hobby outstanding. The rabbit fish is doing great!

Glad you posted, Tj W!

I'd read GHSaltie's story of the rabbitfish -- now moving on to the yellow watchman goby -- but your post brings home just how far above-and-beyond she's gone for these finny fellows!

~Bruce, in admiration . . .

Oh my goodness you guys, how did I miss this thread?! I don't even know what to say but thank you. But really so many others deserve the credit, @Humblefish @melypr1985 and @Brew12 have all been an incredible help to me, I still feel very small compared to them! Oh lordy, I'm gonna have to take a step away for a minute, my face is all red .

You did all the hard work sweetie and learned a lot. The store you work at has a very valuable resource in you. Your customers are lucky to have you there and so are the animals.

You made a difference in this hobby.

@tj w, it was really uplifting to see this post and to read through @GHsaltie's thread. Kudos to you, @GHsaltie for reminding us what this hobby is all about and for being a person of great character. Don't be embarrassed, be proud of the recognition that you so well deserve. It's people like you that give us reefers a good name! Keep up the great work and happy reefing! :)

@GHsaltie Just think, you're responsible for this little guy going from this:

This +1

It is easy for us to sit here and type a few sentences. You were the one that actually had to do the work. What you did truly falls into the category of above and beyond.

Definitely agree with you Mike J as always. No doubt we have an exceptional group here. I'm continually in awe of just a glimpse of the good that's left in this world. By the way, the lil guy is doing great and eating well.

Wow that's really above and beyond -- we can only hope to emulate you. God bless.

Wow, thank you guys. I wish that typed words could better express how happy it makes me to see this thread. At first I was embarrassed to start the disease thread because I thought to myself, how could I make any sort of difference when there are all these great brains out there already? But reading all of yalls comments I've really started to believe that I'm able to contribute to something meaningful, no matter how small. I can't express how good that feels. Oh gosh now I'm gonna get all blurry eyed! Thank you guys!

Keep up the good work, I have a feeling this isn't just a fly by and you will surprise us with another good pay it forward deed.

There always has to be a start. Someone taught me & Meredith. Someday you will teach others. :)
