I have 4 6095 ran in my reef on my ghl profilux 4. If I set up some kind of battery backup to atleast 2 of my tunze. Will they run at my speed or just run at full power? I dont want them to run 100% and sand storm my tank.

I really need to figure something out as CA power company is turning off power to 600k people now for high wind fire seasons to prevent another fire. Obviously generator is #1 on radar. But if I'm not home. That does me absolute no good.

If your Profilux isn't powered on, then the 6095s will run at full speed on battery backup.

A good compromise would be to position one (or two) of the 6095s high in the tank and put that on battery backup. Corals and fish can get through a power outage just fine as long as there's enough surface agitation (for oxygenation).

Actually, I think without the Profilux powered the 6095's won't run at all. Otherwise I completely agree with ATXcraig, if these are the newer 6095's with the 7090 controller you could use that to run them at the speeds you set, also, keep in mind that battery backup is 12V usually and that will mean full power is actually half power as the pump needs 24V to run at half power.

@rvitko

Roger, if the Tunze controller is set to control via external control 1-10V and the controller goes out the pump goes off?

Depending on the external controller, yes. For example a 7095 or 7097 is powered by the pump and nothing will change, Apex or GHL would need its own back up as once it is dead, the pump is getting a 0V or off signal.
