I am having huge problems in my tank as of recent and am trying to figure this out and rule it out as a problem. I have a Tunze 9001 in my Waterbox Cube 20. The only way to use this skimmer is to put the skimmer facing sideways and the magnet is being submerged in the water. I was wondering if this is safe to do so. I have recently been having problems with euphylia mouths gaping open and don’t know the cause. So can Tunze 9001 magnets be submerged in water or should I take it out and get a skimmer that’s magnet won’t sit submerged and instead outside of the tank?

I have attached a water test that I have gotten recently when things started to go down hill. Any thoughts ideas on both the magnet question as well as what may be wrong in my system would be appreciated I am freaking out and am upset. :(

If it's not a plastic coated magnetic it shouldn't be in the water. Non-coated magnets will corrode and leach contaminants. If it's not coated, cover it with silicone to seal it up. Even the zinc coated are not good either as the zinc will leach off.

You can take off the magnet and mount it on the long side. I sold my 9001 but my sell post has the picture you see.
