I recently got a Reef Casa shallow tide AIO aquarium, and came across a good deal on a used Tunze 9001 skimmer, which I read great things about, and I’m trying to figure out the best placement.

I think the best place to put it is directly after the intake, where I plan on running carbon and filter floss (but I’m a little concerned I can’t get the pump low enough in the compartment because of a built in ledge on the intake compartment)

This is my first AIO so I just wanted to make sure there are no issues with placing it directly against the baffle like this.

It isn’t really an option to place it against the outflow baffle compartment because it’s two baffles so the magnet won’t connect, and I also plan on putting porous rock blocks in the back compartment as well and would rather those come after the skimmer.

Is it a feasible solution to modify the skimmer by gluing the internal magnet to the long side of the skimmer, and then the external magnet would hold it up through the back of the tank and not the baffle?

That would also allow me to move the skimmer pump from being directly off of the baffle and have the skimmer sit a little bit lower in the water column.

I use this skimmer in my IM Nuvo 20.
Is that the return section of the tank? Will your water level fluctuate? If not, it should work very well. If the return pump is in that section, make sure your ATO keeps up, or you will end up running the skimmer dry and have a good chance of burning it out.
I dont know anything about the brand you have, however.
I, personally, removed the magnet completely; as it sits directly on one of the shorter baffles leading to the return.

I am putting it in the second section right next to the inflow baffle, so the water level won't change at all.

I have the super glue setting right now. This is my first AIO tank and having experience with plumbed sump tanks I feel spoiled.
