Looking to buy the tunze 9012 dc for an AIO aquarium. Due to the space in the rear compartment , the skimmer can only mount of the baffles.

Is the external magnet mount piece waterproof? In the normal installation, the exterior magnet price is dry.

alternatively I can make a stand from eggcrate to the the skimmer to proper water level. I haven’t heard anyone attempted this approach. Any comment if this will work? The skimmer discharge at the bottom, thus using eggcrate . The baffle alone is likely not strong to hold the skimmer in place.

for vibration, I supposed I can put silicon mat at the bottom.

anyone can comment?

Yes, it is waterproof, inside and outside halves are identical.

It is not impossible, but the water drains out the bottom, so any stand needs to be perforated and allow water to pass through.
