I will throw this out there...

I've never understood the love for Vortech myself being a Tunze guy.

Tunze support has been great to me and best of all nearly
every controller out there supports Tunze (or plans to).

You can also make a simple controller for next to nothing.
(or not use a controller at all), plus you can run them off
of a battery in a pinch (power outage).

i'm all tunze too - great product
with a controller and multiple pumps there are countless flow variations and to say vortechs flow is better is purely subjective
you can direct the flow where you want/need it not just 90* to the glass and therefor create nice wave gyres and whirlpool effects
multiple people report problems with their vortechs where as tunzes seem to run forever
i see why people say vortechs have a "clean" look but the fact is with tunze i can place mine anywhere in the tank and effectivly hide them and not distract from the display, including blowing under the rockwork to keep detritus suspended

but in the end to each their own, and maybe in your situation having both may be ideal.
but for me, vortechs could never do what my tunzes can, and i wouldn't even consider changing them
