Tunze ATO sticking on

I have a Tunze ATO pump, the nano version. It keeps sticking in the on position. Luckily it is limited to only being on for a few moments, otherwise there would have been a flood.

I have cleaned the float valve to make sure it moves freely. Even when the float is completely submerged the pump is on.

Is there anything else I can do to trouble shoot the pump?

If you can find out what's safe to use, you could try cleaning the pump to see if there has been some type of buildup inside it.

However, it sounds like it might be an electrical issue. In that case, you are talking soldering iron and multimeter.

EzeClean (or generic equivalent) is generally safe for cleaning pumps externally (once removed for maintenance).

Any reason why Citric acid would not be safe with a Tunze? I use it for all my pumps.

I think EzeClean is primarily citric acid.

literally just had this happen. thank goodness I was home and heard it running. it sounded "longer than normal" and when I got up to look the float valve was about 2 inches completely submerged but the pump was still running/pulling from the reservoir.

The Tunze Nano ATO has a whole host of problems.
My new one flooded my tank 3 times, so I pulled it and put on a tank outside, of course it works perfectly out there.
First thing I would check in the magnet, the magnet will pull on the float, why they do not use true stainless steel is beyond me, cheap is cheap. Sometimes putting a spacer will help, putting it on a timer is better.

go thru your float again and clean the rod the float is in and the cover. Thats the problem I had when mine didthe same thing. I had to use a thin bottle brush for the float rod.

gotta be honest. I got rid of mine after it failed a few times in the on position. I use my hydros now for ATO and works great., Avast ato is also rock solid!
