Hello all,

Hoping to get some feedback from Tunze reactor owners that may have a set-up similar to mine;

I have just ordered a used tunze macroalgae reactor 3181 for my 40 gallon display with 10 gallon sump system. Because space in my sump is tight already with a skimmer I am planning to install and run the reactor externally, next to the sump.

My thought is that I can run the 12 vold pump as is since I will be intaking and returning the water to the sump with the silicone hose that comes with the reactor as the reactor will stand right next to the sump.

My question is how do I plumb quick release couplings into the hose that can allow me to easily disconnect the reactor and service it when performing maintenance? The silicone hose appears to be metric with a 17mm ID and a 24mm OD- I am thinking I will need to rig something with PVC couplings and reducing barbs but I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Thank you for any help you can offer!

Dexter

3/4" silicone tubing works just fine on it

The thick wall version, I wouldn't use the thin wall tubing

If you want quick release, get 3/4" for that

Use these to make sure it doesn't leak

When I set mine up I was set on getting couplers for the same reasoning. Well I never did and have cleaned it multiple times without much of a hassle at all. The thick silicone tubing slides off and on easy enough and those clamps seal the deal
