I cant speak for the Vortechs but I have the 6125's on my six footer and they move some serious water..It is not sound proof (there is a small hum when it ramps back and forth)The thing is, I feel I get more flow from it because the return and the supply come from all directions...I have a few SPS colonies right near the supply and they grow like crazy...

Have been running an mp40 on my 40 breeder for almost three years. It's virtually noise free and has proven to be the best water-moving tool I've owned. Also note that it's small and there are no cords in the tank.
