Vortech MP40 V Nero 5

The wide flow nozzle seems to be about the same as the stock configuration, except that you can point the flow in different directions. The narrow one seems to push the water further. I didn't know if that makes any sense.

On my 24x24 cube I use the narrow one because I can direct the flow so that it doesn't directly hit any corals. I was a beginner when I set the tank up and didn't think about where flow would go, especially when the corals grew larger.

So the narrow nozzle allows me to put the Vortech on my back wall, and aim the flow up and to the right along the glass so that it doesn't directly hit any corals.

Now compared to the tunze I'm not sure because I've never used them.

It's definitely narrower than a Nero. The Nero's have a pretty wide spread imo.

The 4D Aquatics ones visually look better, but that's just my opinion. They have both a nem cage version, and ones that just clip on to your stock Vortech cage ( That's the ones I have).

I don't know which would be more expensive for shipping from the US or Australia, probably Australia, but I'm just guessing.

100% The ones that replace the entire head and move look great!
Wish I could get them printed here.
One of the biggest issues i have with the stock cages is that Turbo snails get sucked into them all the time.

I’ve got MP60s and Nero 7. And MP40s originally but they wouldn’t stick to my glass properly so upgraded to MP60s.

MP60 pumps have a bad design flaw in my opinion in that the heavy magnet on the wetside will break the ceramic shaft off its base over time. I’ve gone through 4 wetsides in two years.

The Nero 7 moves a lot of water and never has issues. And the Mobius support is seamless.

My opinion is the MP40 is the best choice (the size and weight of the magnet to the shaft is well balanced) but if you need to go larger then I’d go with a Nero 7 — just based on my own experience.
