Hi,

Am planning for a sps dominated 30 in x 30 in x 18 in tank. As of now, have bought a gyre 130 but feel like I need more flow.
Hence thinking of getting a tunze wavebox 6208 .
Wanna know how you guys feels about a wavebox in a cube shaped tank . Is it gonna be too much flow ?
I have used one in the past but only for a long tank and no a cube one..

Share your thoughts..

Regards,
Abhishek

Not too much - I think you'd like it.

But I'd also consider one or two 6040's ($140/ea):

...or one 6150 ($345) if you have future upgrade plans or just wanna go bigger/one pump:

Both of these pumps can be placed virtually anywhere in the tank (i.e. out of view) and do their business.

Dunno if you've read about the Stream 3, but it's pretty intense....the flow capability as well as the build of it! :) 5 year warranty. "Last pump you ever buy" Things like that being said. :) Check out the Tunze vids on YouTube for it...there are at least a couple.

Any of these combos, including the wavebox of course, will do an awesome wave. You just gotta pick your favorite. :)

@mcarroll - Thanks for the lovely reply ..

Well I got myself a pair of used Tunze 60655 with multicontroller 7095.
Now wondering whether a pair of 6055 with gyre 130 will be too much for my 30in x 30 in tank ...

Do you guys think it makes sense to get 1 or 2 Tunze (either wavebox or 6055, 6040 or 6095) in place of the gyre ?

Abhishek

That may be more of a budgetary question - I think any of those combos would generate nice flow. They can all be run a lower speeds if they do turn out to be "too much pump" after all.

I'd try what you have now for a while and see what you think. If you just want to switch to a Tunze pump for the controller, then I think I'd go for the 6040, at least personally. Room to add yet another 6040 or 6055 (or whatever!) down the road when the tank is getting crowded. :)
