G'day guys,

I have some turf algae developing and want to try and get on top of it quickly.

I have taken measures to address my relatively water parameters (carbon dosing, aggressive skimming, water changes) and am aiming to get to about around 0.05-0.1 phosphate and 2-5 Nitrate.

My questions are:
- will the turf algae reduce naturally with lower nitrate and phosphate (e.g. 0.05 phos / 2-5 Nitrate)
- is there a natural predator that people have had success with (I have a pincushion urchin, 10 hermits, plenty of dwarf Cerith and nerite snails). I have heard some people mention turbo snails or emerald crab?
- I can't remove all of my rocks - is there any harm to brushing with a toothbrush within the tank? (i.e. will this help it spread?).

Cheers,

Shaun

I had a nasty turf algae outbreak in my tank and I used vibrant twice a week for 2 months then once a week going forward because it works.
