Hi all

I received 3 small fish from live aquaria in only ok condition, not like how they normally come. kole tang, yellow tang and hippo tang. I have them in a 50 gallon qt tank. All fish are swimming “twitchy.” Yellow tang is starting to get dark spots near his eye and his fins are looking a little choppy. They arrived on the 17th and I just added prazipro to the the tank. Any thoughts. I can’t seem to upload the video of them swimming.

@ngoodermuth @Frtdrmrose7 @HotRocks can probably get you some answers.

The twitchy swimming is odd. Some say that HLLE is caused by stray voltage, maybe that is what is causing the twitch. Do you have a multimeter?

It is odd because the saltwater should be conductive enough that they wouldn't twitch.

Twitching is usually flukes, I haven't seen HLLE cause that behavior. The black dots in the photo are what looks like HLLE to me

HLLE- pristine water, low stress and excellent diet
Flukes- FW dip to diagnose then praziquantel to treat.

I had a flame hawk fish with flukes about a month ago. Treated the tank with prazi pro and it was gone in 2 maybe 3 days.

Oops. I meant I treated with paraguard. Can I dose prazipro at the same time?

I would start with a FW dip, I doubt stray voltage would work that fast. Tattered fins are a sign of flukes and I do see HLLE also.
Even though I was the one that brought up stray voltage, I agree with what you are saying. The twitching just seems odd to me.
