Two new wrasses coming!!!

Just stopped by my LFS and bought a yellow and purple wrasse and a Red Fin Fairy wrasse(current tank mates). I’ll pick them up Tuesday so I have to get everything ready. They were sourced from Quality Marine and in store since 11/24. They have both been in Cupramine at .25 since arrival, now please don’t think I’m not going to QT these guys even though they appear healthy and eat very well (demonstrated at LFS).

I was planning on starting them on Metro soaked food and Prazi in the water. I have heard wrasses don’t tolerate FW dips very well, is this true?after the Prazi I was thinking 6 weeks observation since they have been in a therapeutic level of Cupramine. I know and trust the owner of my LFS. Anything else I should consider? These will eventually end up in my 150G mixed reef.

I don’t see any signs of parasites or infections but I know that doesn’t mean anything. Sorry for the terrible pics.

.25ppm cupramine is actually sub-therapeutic.

If it were me I'd acclimate it into a tank already predosed at .25ppm cupramine. Then ramp up over 3 days to the level of .5ppm. If you have copper power you can do the same thing starting at 1.0ppm and ramping to 1.75ppm over 3 days. I find wrasse to do better in chelated copper opposed to ionic copper.

I would still start the medicated food ASAP. Then when finished with copper I'd move to praziquantel.

I've never had trouble with wrasse and FW dips. Rarely do you see symptoms of flukes on wrasse. So I haven't dipped all that many.

Do you think I should do Metro or GC mixed with Focus in the food? What is the best way to mix with small amounts of frozen? Should I strain the frozen out, mix, then feed?

Either one. Metro soaked food only covers intestinal parasites, GC covers both intestinal worms and parasites since it contains both metronidazole and praziquantel.

Yes thaw frozen. Strain off liquid. Add some garlic guard and/or selcon and then focus to bind the meds to food.

1 scoop focus+1 scoop GC or metro per tablespoon of prepared frozen.

You can refrigerate what you make and feed for a few days. Then discard and make new.
