Two Whitetail bristle tooth in same tank

I have a 180 gallon tank. I ordered a large Whitetail bristletooth tang. I got it, but it was the wrong size, it was a medium. He’s in my quarantine tank, but the place I bought the fish from is sending me the correct size Whitetail, free of charge.

So now I’m not sure what to do, am I able to add two Whitetail tangs to the same display tank? One would be a large one and one would be a medium, and both would be obviously new to the tank and not established.

The other tangs I have in the tank is a fox face rabbit fish, blue hippo, and purple. I’ve had a white tail previously in the tank with no issues, but he passed.

Let me know your thoughts, because I don’t know what to do with the other Whitetail otherwise.

From what I understand you're in a gray area here. It might work, it might not. Personally if I could get out of the situation I think I would, just to be safe.

I hate trying to catch fish in my tank with tons of live rock. Its nearly impossible and quite stressful.

Might work if both can be introduced at the same time but otherwise not likely. I have one in a 180 and it is an extremely active fish even for a tang.

Not sure but that's awesome of them to send another to you. Might be a big risk with the same species but ive never kept white tails. If you decide not to add it I will buy it from you ;)

It was live aquaria. I’ve had it happen a couple of times now where they send me the wrong size Fish, but they’re pretty good about it, as long as I show them a picture with a measuring tape, they’ll send me a new Fish. Yeah, I’d rather only put the big guy in and not take a chance of causing chaos.

If you have a local LFS I'd take the smaller one there.

QT tank thats set up? I'd put it there and sell or give it away on FB Marketplace.
