Drilled the tank and got the Modular marine 1200 overflow installed. Returns in, looks awesome imo. I decided on a frosted background instead of black I think it makes the tank much cleaner looking. Put the inovative marine spin streams on the returns. Very happy with the look pictures don't do it justice.

I relatively new to all this but this is the tank I’m after. I’d like to copy your build with the exception of the stand (don’t have the skills) it’s beautiful btw! Could you provide some links to what you’re using? Thank you for being one of the pioneers on the cool tank!!

I may try 2 prime 16's if i need another i can get on at a later date.
How’d it go? I have a 40 breeder with 2 primes. I want the 60 breeder but keeping my same aqua scape, I have roughly 2 inches of wall clearance on the left and 4 on the right. With a 60 breeder it would be way bigger. So having the lights sorta in the same spot should leave me with the same amount of par on the rocks I’m guessing. That way I can put some low light acans or something on the sides

Thanks for the links!! Where did you get the bulkhead fittings for the returns? Have you done any of the plumbing yet? What return pumps are you planning?

This looks amazing! I'm debating an upgrade myself to maybe a 40b or a 75 (but this 60b sure is looking tempting). I LOVE this stand design. How much did the stand cost you in materials do you think?

I am still piecing together parts but the return pumps I got are two 1.5 Sicce pumps. Bulkhead fittings are from Amazon believe they are lifeguard brand. Stand coat around 200$ to make. I picked up a Graco trucoat vsp paint gun to use for that project and others but that is not incorporated in that price. The primer was cheap the paint was around $40 obviously the most expensive thing would be the plywood I really wanted to use MDF because of how smooth it is and I was resin coating it anyway but my local hardware stores were out of it so I opted for a finishing ply. Used Bondo to fill in the corners and screw holes. Resin coated everything then primered it sanded it primered again then painted it. I should have the plumbing sorted shortly. I am doing flexible reinforced clear tubing I know it's not what most people prefer to use but I personally like the look of it better than PVC Not only that but it's clear so it will hide itself in the frosted glass on the back. Just going for a somewhat clean look with modern styling. Been slacking on the tank build I have all the rock ready to be smashed up and built into an aquascape but I have a few other projects I'm trying to finish including my backyard. I had 55,000 lb of crushed shell delivered and was spreading that in the backyard for the last few days.

This is my 60 breeder with an acrylic trigger sump, custom plumbing and canopy, husky workbench for the stand, only $124.99 at home depot, rated for 1,000 lbs, very nice and tall stand, built the canopy myself, the front door swings open with door hinges on top, also built the little stand for my trigger sump, currently a mixed reef, but slowly moving towards acro dominated with some euphyllia

Did you end up going with 1/2” plumbing on your drains and returns? Being new to this hobby, I was under the impression that 1” or even 1.5” was the standard. What made you choose 1/2”?
