@scott11106 My Cyano/Dino problem persists. I have no idea how to solve this...

Seems i can't produce enough Nitrate, and system has bottomed out a couple times causing the issue. Ive started dosing Nitrates. And seems i can't keep my phosphates up either. Even though auto feeder goes three times a day, two rotations, nori, mysis etc per day. Still the ulr will read 20-30ppb......(algea scrubber is off).

Lost a bunch of lps due to it. But my sps is thriving in the low nutrient environment. I continue to have lps dieing off.

Doing the dr Tims dino treatment as we speak for the second time. Just finished my 3 day black out.

Seems the algea scrubber I made is super effective. I've since shut it off. Been fighting balance for months now, ever since Vibrant initionally bottomed the system out.

Some pics of my algea scrubber I build, aswell as my frag tank thats plumbed into the main system.

Took a bunch of photos tonight, including some top downs. Tank is now about 1.5 years old. Wish I could dial this stability back in to where I once had it ugh....

@jcolliii the damsel is pretty sweet. This one has great personality, and is a model citizen.

Beautiful tank and great growth on your SPS colonies! Sucks that you’re losing LPS. It’s kind of crazy how much of a struggle it is to keep nutrients in the tank. When I was doing research to get into the hobby 8 years ago, this kind of struggle was unheard of.

I wish I could take pictures that well. Haha. And wish I had more things worth taking pictures of....

Have you figured out where you want your nutrients to keep lps happy?

I've recently just gotten my phosphate stable around .03 and nitrates have always been around 4 since i dont have many fish. Sps finally seem to be taking off and doing well and lps seem okay but not great. Cant keep hammer corals alive at all. Sps kept bleaching when phosphates were around .1

System use to be stable and rock solid. Then I dosed Vibrant for Bryopsis....and the rest is history. Was the first time my system had bottomed out. Since then, I've never been able to dial it back in .

Sorry to hear that you're still having issues with the unwanted growths, but seriously, the tank is truly gorgeous! You should be really proud!
Thanks. But with this explosion of Dinos, and not having a clue how to deal with amphidinium dinos (if that's what they are), im pretty close to tearing it down, and starting over.

Can a industry just come up with a solution for Dino's already....id invest

Sorry to see this, but don't give up! You've had one of the craziest reefing journeys in such a short time that I can recall. So many ups and downs, and you've done basically everything right even when it would have been so much easier to take shortcuts. Good luck!

When the tank throws a curve ball of Dinoflagellates at you.......you treat yourself to cheer up lol. The Unicorn is my new addition to the system. :)

also added a second auto feeder for frag tank. As i finally have fish in that system now...yaaa

Dinos's flourish and my patience is wearing thin.

I added a 60w uv. Ontop of the 36w that I already had. I dont see a noticeable difference quite yet after five days of running.

No3 is steady around 6ppm and Po4 around .06 ppm.

About to do another black out and peroxide dosing. Loseing coral by the day it seems. Even zoa's are so aggravated there closing........like really.

Only positive is I finally tracked down, and bought an Achilles tang. Been looking for over a year, and finally lined one up for a good price. He's is QT with some new anthius's and cardinals.

Might be time for a tank reboot soon. But honeslty have not the slightest clue how id tear down this system, yet keep my fish and coral stable in different tanks. So I can nuke my live rock and sterile the system......ugh

Hey Tyler, been too long, it really sucks to see you struggling and I hope you don't give up! Maybe a reboot would be worth it but I have never done one before either so I won't be any help there. Atleast you're trying to stay positive buying yourself goodies :)

i also started with vibrant and saw things start to get strange so stopped before i got too bad. i since then have switched to triton method and things are going great. still have a problem with hair algae but it is manageable for now
