What type of tang is this? I was told this was a Tomini tang but from the research images I have found the head is shaped much different. It does have similar colors but difficult to see as he is always on the move and difficult to get a good quality picture.

Agreed its in the Acanthurus genus. Better photos with good lighting will help ID the specific species. A good amount of Acanthurus tangs change color / patterns from juvenile to adult hood. Starting off with bland coloration.
