UFC vs Strikeforce

So i'm a big MMA and boxing fan. Unfortunately boxing is about dead, especially with Pacman pulling out of the Mayweather fight because he was scarred to being drug tested. What does that tell you. That would have been a killer fight too, was hoping Pacman would destroy Mayweather.

Anyhow, does anyone else thing UFC's cards have become very often and pretty weak? I mean the next one's headliner is Couture (45yrs old) and Coleman (48yrs old). Seems like most of the cards are all ultimate fighter guys. Aren't only one of two of them suppose to be signed?

On the other hand Strikeforce is still free on CBS or ABC and showtime every few mths. They are signing UFC guys and other fighters from other organizations that are some of the top guys out there. I see alot of momentum changing in the next year.

Anyone else seeing this? Its kinda like RC vs R2R :tongue:

in regards to MMA fights, only really care to watch guys like Penn, Machida,Fedor,spider silva , st. pierre and like fighters...

too bad guys like lidell, coutoure, belfort, wanderlei, cro cop, henderson are all getting old or older.

Idono man, i love boxing and i'm not seeing alot for the future. The better guys are moving on. Paul Williams is getting avoided by everyone. Who else do you see making an impact?

There are atleast 20 boxers I can think off the top of my head that are exciting fighters and rising!

Some allittle older cats that can fight and that bring exciting fights are Andre Berto, Yuirukis Gamboa, Chris Arreloa, Afredo Angulo, Juan Manual Lopez, and Jorge Linares there are more but I do not feel like typing more lol.. Those are just acouple off the top of my head.. But there are also atleast another 15 younger kids that are around 21 years old that are on the rise to bring good fights for the future..

Trust me boxing is NOT dead.. It MIGHT be slow right now but that happens to everything in life...

Yeah, I know what you mean. The fight card are starting to suck. They have one great fight and a bunch of okay ones. I liked it when Pride was still around. Each time there was a tournament, everyone was fighting.

I like Berto and Gamboa alot. Gamboa is a firecracker. Berto is going to fight Mosley soon. I look for that to be his first test and his first loss as well. Will be a good one. Arreloa...well, not to excited about him. The heavyweights are just terrible these days, still waiting for someone to come out and destroy the division.

Andre Ward is one i really am impressed with these days as well.

I love MMA. Strikeforce won't last long. It is nothing but unsigned fighters that will leave and go WEC or UFC once they win or old fighters like Fedor.

Yea Berto and Gamboa are probably my favorite right now they are VERY explosive fighters and always exciting fights...

UFC fights seem more often now because they are, after purchasing PRIDE they have more fighters and can put on more venues. There are gonna be some fights that are not anticipated as much, but its part of the ranking ladder system. Couture is contracted to keep fighting, (he sells tickets and ppv) coleman was there to give Ortiz a fight back into the UFC, and set up the Lidell vs Ortiz next season of ultimate fighter. Just my 2 pennies and as far as boxing goes I am sad the the pacquiao vs mayweather fight is not happening soon.

Idono about strikeforce going anywhere soon. They seem like they are over there first lesson with elitexc. Personally the more fights on tv the better : ) So we are doin pretty good these days with the UFC, WEC and Strikeforce. I just wish UFC would start to show more fight nights and less PPV's. I hear the WEC is not far away from showing PPV's, that'll stink.

Boxing = dead. Please stop it with the denial. All sponsors are gravitating towards MMA. The number of boxing v. MMA gyms should point to a good picture of the future.

UFCs cards = yes, lots of them are kind of weak. It seems like they're averaging one every three weeks and like 60%+ fighters are from the show. They have to put these fighters on to fill the gaps in between the headliners. GSP's been out for a long time, so has A. Silva. Good thing is that the UFC is getting more and more contracts every day. Prospects from Japan and Brazil are coming over since they're otherwise limited to K-1 and Dream. They also have WEC to help them scout talent.

Strikeforce = here to stay. SF has a great business model. While teaming with M-1 didn't make sense for the UFC, it was perfect for SF. SF's getting more fighters just as fast as the UFC. It doesn't matter that SF doesn't have as many big names as long as they make good match ups. They should hold a vice grip around Fedor and Mousasi. Those two are like gold. I'd like more cards from SF. It'll happen in due time.

You put that together great Dan! I love boxing but I see my hardcore boxing grandfather liking MMA more now. And your talking about an Ezzard Charles fan liking MMA more at 80yrs old. He got me in the boxing and its been pretty wild to see him move to MMA at his age.

Side note, can't wait to see the Diaz fight on the 31st, and did you see Henderson is wanting to fight Fedor.....wow

The UFC is still the ring leader. The fights have been weak because of either injury or illness. When everybody is healthy at least 3 of the fights have good name draw. The rest are good matchups on paper. The fighters go through very tuff and contact fighting. You see some fighters with blackeyes before the fight. Those are the only injuries that you can see, not the torn up knees or sprained wrist or brused ribs. Their is alot on the line when you are fighting in the #1 ELITE fighting organizations around. I think that Dana does his best to earn our money but **** happens sometimes. IMO
