The GHA went down after I lowered my nitrates by cleaning out my refugium (it used to look like this ;Vomit)

and changing filter sock daily.
I get elevated nitrates and nutrients play a role. But lower it too much and you risk other outbreaks.

I suspect algae is normal as it plays a pivotal role in maintaining stability...and how there is a fine line.

I guess like the nitrogen cycle. Whats the Ugly Phase cycle lol

I used fluconazole on my 120 at 1/2 strenght with great results.
After the algae is 90% gone add 1 astrea snail per 2 gallons of tank size. I have 60+ in my 120.
No more algae as the snails keep it in check.
The algae has to be very short or they wont touch it from my experience.
Removing it as it dies helps alot.
You dont have alot of algae so just the snails may work.
Ugly phase is specific to each tank.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out will I gain control once my corraline starts to take over the tank. And until then it's maintenence and manuel removal with help from inverts.

I dont suspect I will be building a refugium.

You can still get algae with coralline.
Its all about nutrient levels and the correct cleanup crew.
I still get some algae but have to look hard for it. Then the next day its gone.
I would get a minimum of 1 astrea per 2 gallons of tank size, more wont hurt.
My po4 runs .02-.06
No3- 5-10.
Check my build thread.

It’s all about consumers & competitors. Your CUC are your consumers and competitors include: coralline algae, coral, macros (ornamental, utilitarian, nuisance) & sea grasses.

I still think sea hare is your best option.
I dont know that much about sea hares, but don't they starve if there is not a good source of algae? There is not that much algae in that tank so maybe they should wait a bit, but I you think its fine then I think it would be a great choice. :)

you can feed them parboiled lettuce and dried kelp according to live aquaria. "If regular feedings of Caulerpa are not possible, it will need a supplemented diet of parboiled lettuce and dried kelp."
