Additional thoughts...consider increasing flow. Do you have power heads running?
Also, turkey baste/small power head detritus that is covering rocks into the water column before siphoning.
To keep parameters stable, you may have to carefully dose Trisodium Phosphate and Potassium Nitrate (Loud Wolf) until the tank matures.
It is going to take some time to turn things around, but your in good hands here on R2R.
