If you could set up a refugium for a 400 - 500 gallon tank. What equipment would you use, dimensions, stock algae, substrate, etc? Money is no object.

I’d use one of those big 150 gal rubbermaid stock tanks. Light it with like 4 Kessil H380s and fill it with feather caulerpa, chateo, ulva, caulerpa prolifera, and run a DSB made of a mix of all different grain sizes. Keep maybe 50 pounds of rock in there just to serve as extra surface area and breeding spots for microfauna.

I have been putting together a new idea for a new aquarium in my house for an upgrade in size. My Idea is to run a display refugium upwards of 100 gallons and at least 6ft long. One part more shallow than the other. The idea is to run multiple different types of algae in this area as well as some seahorses if I liked. You could also make a sanctuary department for healing corals. Anyway. That is what I will be doing at some point in time. May help spark some ideas for you. I did not want a huge box filled with chaeto.
