Has this been done? Surely. Useful/useless? I was just about to switch from HOB to plumbed sump and I randomly thought of this. I would wager, it couldn’t hurt… but I’ve been wrong many times before.

Thanks!

What do you mean by “damper”? Presumably for vibration? If so, many people use closed cell foam mats under both display tank, and sump!

Yes exactly that. I was trying to think of the roll of foam you used to have to put down under vinyl flooring before they started manufacturing it right on the planks. Thanks!

I actually use silicone mats underneath my return pump and my skimmer within my sump. And I also have my sump sitting on a rubber mat. I try to minimize as much noise as I can. I would have to say my tank is fairly quiet other than pumps within the day T, but then again I wouldn’t know if it reduce sound or not

I run 1/2"pink hard insulation foam from homedepot under both my acrylic tank 300g and acrylic sump 125g. not so much for vibration control but to take up any uneven areas where each mounts.

Thanks! I was looking at silicone or closed cell foam (aka yoga mats, old sleeping pads, etc.). BRS sells a wine mat silicone pad lol. I was either going to repurpose or see what the supply store had next time I go.
