I am about to move and my new place doesn't quite vibe with the stand I made for my tank. Of course, my tank is old and IM doesn't make a stand for it any longer. I was poking around and saw there are a lot of stands that are wight rated and could fit my tank. Are these any good? Or should I get a solid pine one like a Marineland Newport and stick a slab of solid wood on top? Or throw the whole thing out and buy a new set up? Sadly, I don't have time between now and the move to make a new stand.

Thanks for your thoughts!

A weight-rated stand that would hold your aquarium and its contents seems like a reasonable option. Do you have a specific stand that you are considering? Is there a particular reason that is making question a generic stand as an option?

Hi, thanks for your response.

I really just don't know anything about these stands. I know, conventionally, you have the weight stacked over the legs. But if the weight is in the middle, and the thing is made of MDF (because they are all MDF) how well does it support the tank?

I wouldn't know to spot a good one from a bad one. And I don't know if I want to gamble my livestock and my flooring on a "meh" stand.

Generally any tank that is made of MDF may be adequate, but is likely "meh" at best. Water and MDF are not friends. IMHO, a generic, real-wood stand is a good option.
