I thought it would be fun to document and share the progression of my office tank. This is my first tank after many years of dreaming. We finally found the right building to rehab, so it was time to pull the trigger. I am pretty excited and happy that so far, the forum has been a positive experience. I look forward to learning from all of you and sharing my experiences. Good and bad.

Here is where it started. I had a concept for a dual sided tank in my office that I could see from my desk throughout the day and from the "lounging" area on the other side of the wall. That area we use for casual meetings, nightcaps or Monday morning round tables with our group.

It was a bold move. The tank is on a second floor of a building that was built in 1916. We ended up having to string engineered joists every 10 inches across the distance of the floor, bridging on multiple walls with a Volkswagen sized concrete pier under the house. I'm not kidding. The concrete blob is gigantic. Needless to say, even with all that thought and effort I was still nervous on fill up day.

After the construction was much further along you can see the drywall was finally installed. We ended up waiting about 10 weeks from the tank manufacturer from start to finish.

You can see my desk on the other side of the tank.

About two weeks ago we had the first batch of water mixed up and put in the tank. As you can see in the pictures, we did side and trim out the tank stand with stone and shiplap. It looks fantastic in the space. We cannot wait to get some inhabitants to keep us company.

Here is the view from my desk looking out. I must say, the journey has been totally worth it so far.

I will post pictures of the hardware and sump etc shortly. I know folks are interested in what and why we decided to use what we used. The tank installer was impressed with our enclosure, so I hope you all enjoy it as well.
