Anyone have any suggestions or tips on what to do when upgrading to a new tank i feel as it’s a 90 gallon upgrade since i currently have a 90 and moving the stoc into a 180 what kind of tips do you guys have for the least amount of issues

Nate,
Help us help you and provide some details.

Is 180 to be set up in same spot as 90?

So the 180 is being put in on the opposite side of the room that my 90 is in now. I just purchased an aqua uv 40watt to upgrade from my 25 watt i’m currently using. Bought an apex a3 pro… never used any apex system before. Bought a red sea reefer 900 skimmer. Bought a pair of gyre xf350 clouds to pair with my current mp60s. using the same reefmat 1200 that’s on my current tank and same pump that’s on my tank now. I have a mixing station that consists of 2 55 gallon drums one for fresh rodi water then another for the saltwater.

If you have water in the 180, is it cycled? Also, what happens to the 90 tank? Are you moving stuff over?

0 water in the 180 atm absolutely everything besides the sand livestock wise would be moved into the 180 i was planning on making 110 gallons of water moving the fish into a temp 20 gallon tank with the tank water in it then taking the water that’s left filling the 180 with it then the rest of the water that’s left filling would be in the 180 would be brand new water

Just move everything to the new tank with most of the water from the old tank as practical and top off with fresh salt water and think of it as a big water change. I've done it many times with no issues

i have over 100 pounds of dry rock how do i go about putting them in? Should i put them in a separate container with the tank water and turn them into live rock or i saw people were putting a 5:1 mixture with acid and water on dry rock to get all the bad stuff off of them
