Well it's been a minute that's for sure!

So let me start off by saying I was forced to delete the app because I had no storage on my old phone. Then I lost my job which made things a little more difficult as well but I just started a new business and it's doing well so I'm finally back in action!

So currently here we are

IMG_4380.JPG

I battled a few things over the last few months, like a severe itch outbreak, brown jelly, power outtages, suicidal fish. It was a really discouraging time but I'm very happy to see where I have ended up!

My current inhabitants include
1) yellow tang (bowser) the boss of the tank
1) sailfin tang (tigger)
1)foxface (cleopatra)
1) exquisite wrasse (2nd in command)
1) blueside wrasse (brock)
1) red fairy wrasse (pyro)
1) temminiki wrasse (flare)
1) female solarensis (ms.popeye)
1) Midas blenny (calypso)
1) long fun fairy wrasse (Alyssa)
1) mandarin dragonet (pandora)
1) Anthias (no name lol)
1) diamond goby (diglet)

Corals include
Various frog spawns, hammers, torches,

Green star polyps

Elegance coral

Neon green Kenya

Blastos

3 different leather corals.

So now that I'm back I'm enlisting the help of the very conscientious Reef2reef crew!

I recently purchase an elegance coral
And she was beautiful in the store but not so hot at home I moved her to a lesser light area and lesser flow and was curious of anyone's experiences.

I've also purchased a new leather coral but can't find it's exact name
I know the polyps are green but could use some id help!

Thank you guys in advance!!
Missed the team that's for sure!

So she's looking a lot better I think lol
But now I need to move the torch and the frogspawn
Because I know these three species won't get along.

Anyone want to chime in on a placement of these two corals

I have never kept elegance. But from my local club's discussion, it looks like there are couple of places fro m where they come. Australian elegance have very high durability. Some folks have grown it to fairly big sizes and donated several frags in process. They rarely feed them. So, it is photosynthetic, and I'd expect it to keep wel lit area with low flow.
reef roid is the recommended food. Phyto too is good.
I have seen several of these in member aquariums, they are gorgeous.

Well the sad news is the elegance didn't make it, guess I'll have to try again when I have more experience and my water is more stable!
But to cheer me up
Here's a video of my hungry hungry hippos

I've thought about trying an elegance before too. Such rad looking corals but heard they are pretty tough to keep.

Thanks!

There have been a few scuffles between the tangs but nothing unusual and definitely nothing bad.

The wrasse do flash each other but also nothing crazy.
That is awesome to hear!

Is there any tip for successful multiple same/similar wrasse keeping in the same tank?? i.e. order of introduction, size selections etc.. Id love to keep a few fairies and flashers in my 90..

Alright everyone so a little bit of an update, ive decided to really go back to a more coral focused tank. So since i now work at my lfs, i donated all but a few fish to our store and since i work full time i can really make sure they go to good homes lol.

my next question is this. do i have enough room for one more fish? or do you think that the list i have below fully stock my 90 gallon mixed reef?
please let me know, also what fish you think would do well in my tank. i want a real show stopper lol

i currently have
1-leopard wrasse
1-red sea sailfin tang
1-very smalll hippo tang
1-diamond goby
1-midas blenny
1-long fin fairy wrasse

Well I decided to stay as is with fish!
I'm going to let my desjardini stay the show piece and let the corals do their due justice!

Also I found another issue with why my levels were so high. I didn't even realize it but I started switching where I got my synthetic salt from for my water changes.
Originally it was Red Sea salt which I believe has lower levels of grace nutrients. I have currently been using instant ocean salt which from what I found is much higher!
This explains why my levels are always high even between water changes so I'm going to go back to Red Sea and see how things play out! This would help explain my leather coral issues and lack of growth in my corals since the upgrade!

Anyone use a certain salt that works great for them?
