Hey everyone,

So in the near future I want to get a new tank. I want to re do the rocks. I’m looking for the best course of action and some tips on the best way to do this. I’ve seen a lot of different methods and wanna see what some others had luck with.

I want to transfer all my livestock into a lagoon 25. Id be using dry rock again. I know I wish I could use live rock there’s just no options in my area.

If you already have rock in your system, then it wouldn’t be dry rock when you transfer it. If you’ve had it for a while, now it’s live rock. Reusing it will allow for a seamless transfer.

Just get new sand.
It would be new rock. I’m not a fan of it’s current rock structure.

cure the dry rock in a bin with a heater, powerheads, etc. once you’re ready with the tank, drop the rock in

You’re going to lose your cycle if you don’t reuse it. Can’t you just break the structure to make it how you want ?
I know I’m going to lose the cycle. That’s why’s I’m asking for some othered experience. I don’t like the rock and the rock is nowhere near enough rock needed to fill up the new tank

Then do a full cycle in the new tank without the fish and inverts, and when it’s cycled, transfer fish slowly, except if you only have a few small ones.

HOW MUCH DOES A FISH’S FEEDING REQUIREMENTS AFFECT YOUR STOCKING DECISIONS?
