Is UPS known to claim "receiver refused delivery" on their tracking, especially when the driver never came around? I was home all day and it's impossible for me to miss them.

I normally don't order things online, and when I do, it's usually through normal postal or FedEx.
Seems like most aquarium related items are through UPS.

this is the 3rd time it has happened to me in the past 2 months. and all 3 times, the items gets turned around and right back to the sellers.
Thankfully Drs Foster and Smith worked with me to resolve the issue painlessly the first time. Second seller wasn't as helpful but I did get what I ordered. Both delayed me 2 weeks.

I hope BRS is just as easy to communicate with for this shipment (I had ordered the 2 part dosing kit)

Now I am worried about my live animal shipment that I believe is also through UPS.

Is this common for UPS? I am beyond annoyed. Waiting for UPS to get back to me.

Could be they have no idea where you live and are attempting delivery at someone else's address? Seems odd-is there a reason stuff can't be left where you live? I don't like that Live Aquaria switched to using UPS over FEDEX but my only real issue is timing delivery, one gets to my house around noon, the other not until 5pm ish.

I don't know, I've gotten deliveries from UPS successfully and the apartments are clearly labeled, so they really don't have an excuse.

Plus if they did go to the wrong door, I am sure my neighbors would point to the right door

UPS is on point here. FedEx priority is good but reg fedex guy must have a girlfriend around here because he gets lost. Waited all day for a live shipment that said "on truck for delivery" all day ti after five it said undeliverable can't find address. I live on main highway with big numbers by road. Must be geographical staffing issues.

My LA shipment arrived. asked my neighbor to take it in for me since I am not home at the moment. I was watching the truck via the live tracker, lol

Remember my UPS delivery that was damaged and re-routed back to BRS this past friday? Well, they decided to deliver it last night. Same day BRS shipment of the replacement was sent off. It appears another package was leaking into mine, so they thought mine was damaged. Everything is OK (a bit damp, but fine!)

I called BRS to tell them to turn the replacement around and back to them since I got the original order after all. They told me to keep the replacement because I had called them. It pays to be honest! (it was the 2 part dosing kit, could use an extra!). Excellent service from BRS.

I've had issues where USPS would leave a note in the box saying they couldn't deliver because no one was home when I was actually home.

Same here. Waiting on my Santa Monica algae scrubber and they left a note. Now they can't find the pkg. geez!!

You can set up a free UPS my Choice account and have items held at the nearest UPS hub for you to pick up. This is nice when the item is expensive and you don't want it left outside.

it's not just ups. FedEx has a few times "knocked" on my door, with me sitting 4 feet away from it on my couch, and then saying I wasn't available for delivery. Honestly it comes down to the driver, whether he wants to actually do his job, or skate by doing the minimum required.

In all fairness to UPS this could happen. As sometimes there are multiple trucks in the area at different times depending on if it's express or normal delivery. I don't work for UPS I just have ordered many things over the years from them

Every time I get a live shipment I watch the tracking like a hawk, on several occasions I have seen the refused delivery or package rescheduled pop up, after which I promptly call up the UPS hub office and start ripping them a new one. Have managed to get my package every time, and once I think the supervisor at the sort facility drove it out in person. My other favorite is I have seen them drive up, get out, come half way to the door and then leave with the package, several minutes later the refused delivery pops up on the tracking and once again the call goes out.

I had similar issue with UPS earlier this year. Ordered fish for my bosses office tank. UPS didn't deliver on Friday per LiveAquaria (no bad weather, no holiday) and said they would deliver on Saturday. Uh, that's a problem no one is here on Saturday. so I came in at 8am on a Saturday and left a huge butt note on the door "Knock or call my cell phone to let you in". NOTHING happened. At 10pm I went down stairs and there was an "attempt to deliver note" UGH. So long story short after many phone calls, conversations with supervisors etc, I was told driver will come back by 3pm. this time I literally sat outside our office from noon to 3pm....NOTHING!!! I called back...supervisor said truck is tracked and heading back to distribution and done for the day. Next delivery will be for Monday????? "Uhhhhh fish won't last that long. So now you have $300 worth of exotic fish dying in your warehouse!!!!!!" He had no answers for me. I called Live Aquaria back and explained situation...they were great. Said call UPS back have them send the package back to them and they will credit my account. I appreciate that LiveAquaria were so helpful and credited me...but lets look at the big picture. How many times does this happen and how many fish are being lost in the process. Our hobby has taken a beating on how we keep livestock and backlash for pulling these creatures from the ocean. Now our hands our tied in the undue loss of life of these creatures. I agree its unfortunate that LiveAquaria switched to UPS...bad move. When I asked UPS what is your "POLICY" on how they deal with livestock...."LIVESTOCK" that is printed on box.....they couldn't give me answer. I called FedEx and they gave me a a very detailed process of how livestock are handled from moment of pickup to airplane ride to climate controlled facilities to truck delivery. UPS is a JOKE!!!!!! After this was all over I called UPS back and talked to someone at the corporate level and they were of course very upset this happened. An hour later I had some "local facility supervisor" calling me back apologizing up one side and down the other over the matter...and went as far as to say that he keeps fish too and feels the hurt of loosing such expensive fish. Claimed that it would never happen again. So at this point I have to do due diligence when ordering to check weather patterns, holidays, time of week etc to make sure the odds are stacked in my favor to receive my package. Perhaps we all need to start writing LiveAquaria to boycott their shipping method!!! At the end of the day it sucked I lost an entire Saturday to this **** up. Had I just got the fish I could have written it off...but I lost a Saturday and the fish are dead grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!

I hate FedEx, I ordered fish and waited all day for them, no show check online said unable to delivery due to bad weather it was a clear day all day. Had to drive 45 minutes to their warehouse after calling them to find out where the truck was. My live rock boxes had huge holes and was leaking, they rolled up the door one box was on its side it apparently fell off one of the shelves by the look of it. I never had a problem with UPS.

I'm fortunate that my UPS driver live 2 streets over. Between my Amazon habit and now a reef tank, it's a rare that I go more than a day or two between packages. I used to get my UPS packages ~7pm, but the last few months they have been coming during the day and are waiting for me when I get home at 5.

I definitely think the service experience for either carrier is dictated by the local driver. They can drop kick your box across the warehouse, but the guy that leaves the box at the door is the face of the company.

IMO, UPS is the single most pathetic mailing system we have in this country with the USPS in a close 2nd. ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC! Sorry for your stress :(

Interesting that this would show up today, I placed an order with PEA for corals and an orange spotted goby, receive my UPS info tracking number etc. last night and get up this up I morning to check status and it says there was s problem at their distribution center and it's been delayed and won't go out till tomorrow. I email PEA to see if anything can be done and mention that as fAr as I know there had not been any bad weather so I didn't know why it had been delayed. PEA emails back that was not delayed because of bad weather , delayed because it had got left behind and wouldn't go out till late tonight early tomorrow morning. First off these are live precious cargo!! 2nd that's why I'm paying $45.00! For overnight shipping and 3rd I made arrangements to be home today to accept my pkg. so needless to say I'm ANGRY!!! My box of live corals and fish will be tossed and knocked around all day because no one will read all the warnings on the box and to top it off when they finally bring it to my door it will probably upside down in drivers hand cause they don't read what's on the box!!! Thanks for letting me vent.
