upside down reef

I keep seeing bare bottom tanks now. It looks wierd to me. I am not a big fan. But I was thinking if you don't have sand why not light the tank from underneath with leds or some other cool temp lighting. Anyone know if its being done??

I've not seen it but off hand I feel like it would take away from the tank and cause glare for most viewing angles.

I could be totally wrong

Ill bet you could make it cool. Glue frags to the under side of rocks. Make an upside down reef. This is starting to sound good to me. Different.

Do you think that something like kenya tree would grow downward toward the light? Or do you think it would instinctively try to bend up even though the light was coming from below?

Would be a heck of a conversation piece that's for sure.sounds like it would work in theory at least.what about a top view tank lite from the back or sides makes ya wonder huh.

My wife would kill me in this apt. Lol but next year in our house I'm gonna try a barebottom floating rockscape with a 360º coral formation. Top and bottom lit. I think it would be really cool if it works. :-D

So what about the kenya tree question... anyone want to venture a guess?

I am guessing whatever you are keeping will try and grow/reach towards the light....whether it is upside down or not :)
