Does anyone else’s turbo snails do this once in awhile? I have 5 big turbos in my tank that will turn themselves upside down on purpose. Ive had them for many years. Even though they must be able to right themselves, I always turn them right side up when I see them like this. Am i wrong to turn them right side up if they’re doing this on purpose? Why would they be doing this?

In my experience, snails don't intentionally flip themselves upside down. Their shell protects them from predators, and flipping themselves upside down would make them vulnerable.

Its likely that they fall off of the rock work and land that way. If you leave them, they will right themselves.

I've had this happen before in a tank a few years ago. I think it was due to toxins from dinos. I've seen other posts with similar issues suggesting it could be a parameter that is off.

Or…. Just maybe that hawkfish looks a little guilty?
Maybe, have you seen them physically flipping themselves on the sandbed? It’s very odd for them to do that, if they were falling off stuff I would atttribute to something like lack of nutrients causing them to lose balance of environmental stress but if they’re having no problems climbing it definitely could be the hawkish

Mine have been in for quite a few years and Ive never seen one upside down. Astrea snails are another story but even those right themselves. My astea drop off the glass. I've never seen a turbo let go and fall off rock or glass. Are they getting enough food to stay healthy? I've stopped cleaning my glass as often as I used to because I don't have any algae on the rocks and I want the snails and urchins to have a food source. I have 9 tangs so supplemental feeding isn't an option.

It’s very strange to me because when i try to physically move the snail from the glass or a rock, they are very strong. I did have a small outbreak of Dino’s recently that mysteriously just disappeared. Now here i am watching a turbo snails all morning….good thing I’m retired. What will i tell my wife i did today when she comes home from work?
