Urchin?

Are any urchins worth putting into a reef aquarium? Can these be sustained in captivity aquariums-


Example like sand sifting starfish-cool but my opinion they starve out in captivity snd are short term tank mates

Most Urchins do well in aquariums in my experience. In smaller systems you should supplement their diet with Nori Strips. I have had this ORA variegated in a nano observation tank for over a year.

Absolutely. I have a tuxedo urchin in each of my systems. The only downside is that they will pick up and drag around anything that isn’t firmly secured, especially frags on racks.

I keep serpent stars with out any problem, you just don't see them very often.

I had lots of issues with all kinds of urchins until I put a rock boring urchin in. It did so well, I've added 2 more in a 40g aio tank (that has no fish). The first one has been in there for several years and the 2 newer ones have been in about 18 months now.

I have 2 in a 50 gal. “Quarantine” tank I set up last summer which became inundated with algaes. They are a great cuc.
