Urchin

I came home today to my urchin eating my sand sifting starfish. The urchin had a tip of a starfish leg in its mouth. Is this normal behavior?

What kind of Urchin is it?

What type of urchin? Most urchins in the biz are herbivores. But any herbivore will take advantage of the opportunity to eat meat if it's already dead or dying. Google cows eating rabbits, or chickens, if you dare.

The starfish is healthy. I got him out of the mouth and he ran away. Dont know what type of urchin.

They are in different tanks now. Caught the urchin chomping on him again.

The urchin ate my new rock flower. I pulled him off and the bottom of the foot was sticking out of his mouth. He will be going back to the lfs tomarrow.

Urchins - especially pin cushion urchins - are a PIA! My daughter absolutely LOVES ours so I can't banish her to the sump or re-home her. She bulldozes corals at will, knocks over rock work, and ... dang, she's tearing up something now.

My blue spot urchin was great for about a year and just recently went rogue and killed a couple LPS frags and a section of my duncan. I love the urchin but I think he’s gotta find a new home soon. I feel your pain.
