I was in Louisiana once and due to the humidity, and my allergies, I threw up for the first day. Definitely not a place I could live. I did end up having a lot of fun there though.

I understand, but it only snows here about once every 5-10 years and it melts off within hours. That's why I live here. :-) We have air conditioning for summer.

I must admit that I am not much for eating gator. Tastes like fishy chicken to me. As far as gumbo goes, I prefer chicken & sausage, of course, I won't turn down a good shrimp gumbo either. :-)

So here are some pics of my sad sps that didn’t make it through my salinity boost. This is also lol what happens when you go on hey let’s change something that works. Oops and well ehhh this is the result of said idea lol. One is a no name but was a nice purple and green and one was a pink lemonade that did awesome in my tank. I still have two hanging on, but may have to frag and cut down to stop the slow tissue lost. The large one lost the tissue in about 9 hours and when they say rapid tissue loss, they are not kidding. My parents are back to normal which are:
Alk 8
Cal 440
Sal 1.025
Nitrates .25-2
Phosphates I don’t lol know it’s between the first and second pic on the api chart.
I assume nitrites and ammonia super low or zero since the fish and everything is doing amazing. Just working on getting some of my sps to spring some of their colors back after this. My ora red planet lol went crazy nuts, my purple stage and purple something fuzzy and smurf went crazy and ice dragon went crazy for the better. My pc rainbow lost the rainbow greens and yellows but hopefully come back. My bonsai is still nice a purple and green. I have two and one from a frag is doing just fine the other I am watchomg close and have had for years. It’s trynng tm home on but not sure where tm frag. My other blue sps no idea some no name is hanging on but can’t stop the slow tissue from the button up. Will have to frag this weekend if it won’t stop. Most of my wild ones are having a hard time, the farmed ones have been fine other than a few color changes. So hard lesson learned lol don’t change parameters or increase lighting cause every tank system is different. Stick with what your tank l

Hi Sarah, If you really want to be successful with Acros I suggest keeping your nutrient levels in check. I would shoot for around 5ppm Nitrate and .02-.04 Phosphate. Your API kit is not going to be accurate enough. I suggest getting a Hanna HI-736 low range Phosphorous checker and I like the Nyos test kit for Nitrates. I would also suggest the Hanna Alk checker if you do not already have one. I noticed that you were going to add buffer to adjust your pH. I would not chase pH just keep your Alk anywhere from 7-9 but stable.

Today I actually felt what it was like to be a pizza thrown into an oven as it was 109-111 here in Boise. It’s really bad when you walk into Albertsons lol and I always see the beer cooler open. Now granted I’m not able to drink alcohol, I found myself with others camping out in the huge walk in cooler. It did feel really nice, but you know it’s hot when people are camping out in a cooler. Not to mention, I was being lazy and was going to get a frozen pizza for dinner. Well from the time it came from the freezer of the store to my Jeep, to my house (Yes my ac was on) it was no longer frozen and I live ten min away if that.

@Foothill Corals helll, that’s where I was keeping them until I was dumb enough to move them to 15-20. I have noticed that the only sps im losing are the ones I have bought from my lfs. All my others except one that I bought on line are holding on super strong. I’m starting to really think that the lfs buys wild acros and they are much more prone to this than farm raised. The only parameter that out of whack and was fixed in an 9 hour period was my salinity. My poor dad mixed up the bottles (r/0 and salt on the lids not sure how that’s possible but oh well) and my salinity went from 1.025 to 1.030 to 1.031. That morning my alk was an 8 but when I did a new check it was at a 6. So I dosed that but I normally stay within 8-9 for alk and 440 cal, 2-5ppm for nitrates as well. Most of my coral did fine with that level of nitrate except the lps. They hated it, my tracs and wells and acans were kinda mad at me. I also added a third orbit pro (non ic loop version and ) they definitely didn’t like the additional light boost. Even though I did the math and decreased each light by 33%. So now I will have to frag the ones that have started stn before which I have owned forever. But it’s the life of reefing lol. It’s just I don’t have enough head stones for all the coral I keep killin because I was a moron.

It was their masterpiece and still hangs in the room they stay in when they are here. :) their excuse was well they did it in toy story and you said everything was okay to do in that movie. I had to kinda eat my own words, I was out smarted by a toddler :(.
