has anyone ever tested if a Hanna checker could read other tests. I was thinking if I used for example a Hanna calcium checker with red seas nitrate kit. If I got nitrate standards of say 0, 10 and 20 nitrate, put them in a Hanna calcium tester and see what numbers it gave me. I could then create a chart that I could see what my nitrate is based on what number the Hanna calcium checker spit out. Not sure if this would work but wondering if anyone has attempted this. I just wish I could get a more accurate nitrate because I stink and reading the colors.

There is a thread on this topic. Lots of info on using the ULR PO4 checker and the RedSea nitrate reagents. I do this and it works well.

I’ll search for it and post the link here.

Note that the reason Hanna doesn't sell such a nitrate checker is the effect of salinity (chloride) on the results, and the potential need to develop a standard curve at the salinity you are running the tank at. :)
