I have a Pentair HO 80W UV.

Minimum suggested for protoza is 450GPH.

I wanted to run only about 200GPH through it for longer contact time. Are there any risks of unit overheating if I go well below suggested GPH?

I would say yes. Those bulbs produce a lot of heat. I know if I run my 120 watt UV with under 550 gph the housing gets hot to the touch.
