Uv bulb question

I bought a knock off benad 100 watt uv bulb for my aqua uv100 watt. The bulb has small plastic wrap on the ends, maybe about 3 m-4 inches long, over both ends of the bulb. Does that stay on or do you cut it off?

Im familiar with knock offs but not that one.

Does it feel like thin silophane?
Or more rigid rubber?
If it’s the rubber leave it on if it’s the other take it off.
Looks like the rubber bumper to me.

Man, this thing is frustrating. I tried to push it in as is, started to feel tension, backed it out, the plastic part came off and is stuck inside the quarter sleeve

Take another picture of the damage and I’ll look at it for you.

The plastic sleeve was too far down to get. I just pushed bulb all the way in, presumable it’s back on there, no where else for it to go. The white plastic rings around the bulb themselves….do they serve a purpose? Bulb would not fit with those on, I had to slide them off

Those sound like the spacer supports keep the bulb from melting the casing.
Very important!!

When sliding I’, this kept pulling away from bulb . Will not fit with these on

Contact the manufacturer this is difficult for me without physically being there to see.
I’ve seen so many knock off varieties of these in thirty years lol.
But not this one.
Wish I could help you more.

the bulb which is 27 inches long, had those white plastic rings on there, wrapped around bulb and two wires. Space avoid 10 inches apart on the bulb. My guess is it keeps the bulb from making direct contact with the quartz sleeve glass.

There is a lip going into the uv, before you get to the quarts, that they get hung up on

Yup so you need those on then.

Thanks for your help. Tried calling them, no less than 6 times, no answer . Does anyone else have experience with this ?
