Do you think my 90 watt uv sterilizer is somehow causing po4 to rise? It used to be undetectable with Hanna checker until i got a uv to kill dinos. Now months later po4 is 1.34 ppm ! Lol

Its strange because i added sulphur beads months ago for no3 destruction which was reading 100ppm no3 and up. Po4 was 0 at the time. Now its reversed, 5ppm no3 and 1.34ppm po4.

Any ideas?

Dead bacteria spilling their guts might boost phosphate. Seems a lot though.
I agree. I wonder if expired Hanna po4 powder might cause it to read high? The water turned dark blue as expected.

Iirc i read someone say on here that dinos are phosphate hoarders. Maybe now they are gone my system isn't processing po4 very good anymore. You should see my sump too. Its covered in red cyano, im sure its cyano not dinos from microscope id. Strange cyano shows up in the sump after dinos. Cyano and hair algae are growing like weeds in the sump.

UV sterilizer is killing waterborne algae and bacteria thats fixating pO4.

My own experience, but a fuge or scrubber is almost mandatory with UV or a ozone to balance out the increase in nutrients.
