UV recommended size brand

Iv got a 40 watt in the mail and was thinking of running the pump fast during the day for algea and slow at night for parasites when I want the flow slower . Do you think this will do both or neither ?

100%. I had two of the 18w. they both lasted about 1 year. Inside sealed area leaked and ruined them. The only reason I went with it a second time was because it was “free”.

I'm very much a beginner when it comes to reef plumbing so bear with me. I finally added a sump, mostly so that I could add a decent UV without going with a HOB. I was wondering what brand and size would be recommended for a 75 gallon. I was planning on running my return into the UV which would then run back into my display. My return pump is a varios4 running on the lowest setting. Would that be too much gph for a UV? And is this an ok way to plumb a UV into my system.

Look on amazon I think there are a lot of options but if you just put it into the sump I would wonder about algae growth. I had a led light shining in mine to grow cheato and that is what happened to me. I just bought one to put on my RO and they all seem to be rated in GPM. VERY EXPENSIVE mine cost $60 others were running in the hundreds. I am sure there are a lot of DIY guys on youtube and here that can help you

Seems ok, flow rate is between 400-500 gph. I primarily got it because any fish added in the past came down with ich, so I wanted something to help control that. I’ve since added a Tomini tang which has been as heathy as I could hope. As for algae, the water is definitely clearer, but it isn’t a total game changer in that regard. Still plenty of algae for my cuc and Tomini
