Hello! Been looking through old threads but haven't been able to find any sort of clues to the identity of this growth on my reef tank glass:

It's appeared in a few spots on the glass over the last few weeks (not particularly fast growth, but definitely growing). We're not planning on keeping it around, mostly just curious! Here's a close up:

And what it looks like inside the glass:

Tank is about 2 years old, 4 or 5 months ago we had a big green hair algae issue and treated the tank, we've just been letting it restabilize since then without adding anything. All creatures and coral in the tank are 100% captive bred from a variety of sources. We have also added maricultured clean up crew from Indo-Pacific Sea Farms.

Thanks!

Sorry, I'm having a hard time getting better photos. I don't think so, it seems be slowly growing outward, web-like, from the first pieces we saw.

It almost looks like the way our green-star polyp slowly encrusts around it, but in this vein/weblike pattern...thanks!

Yeah, that looks like sponge to me - you typically see sponges like this in sumps rather than displays though.
