So I am finally upgrading my 29 gallon to a 40b and I build a canopy for it. I was wondering How you guys feel about ventilation in it. It is sealed all the way around. I have a 5"× 6" hole in the top of it with some egg crate covering it that sit right above my light fixture. I also have two 80 mm fan I'm gonna use to move air on the inside if the canopy but I am looking for suggestions on placements. The canopy is 37" long by 11 1/2" high. All suggestions are welcome and wanted please. Thanks guys.

I would say you want 1 fin in and one fan for exhaust and the fan that’s drawing from the outside should be blowing accross the water surface.

IMHO, you'll be better off, and get better air circulation if you have both fans blowing in and let the warm air exit passively through the hole in the top. You will also get better fan life because you won't be subjecting one of them to constant warm humid air.

+1. Both blowing in will help keep the fans dry and salt free. I'd put them near the ends on the back just to keep them invisible.

One fan blowing in and one blowing out will get you essentially the flow of one fan with the power consumption of two.

120mm computer case fans. Blowing in. Top is vented. Keeps humidity in check. :)
