So, I have too many LPS for the rockscape I’ve built. I was just acclimating/placing on the bottom indefinitely; some would stay, but not all. It’s come that time for the not all crowd to shove off. But I stared at the tank for an hour, after doing a water change last night, and didn’t really change anything.

My torches need more space, probably shouldn’t have gotten 4. My purple hammer is starting to conquest so I had to try moving my duncan from it’s reach. Same thing with it’s cousin pagoda cup near a torch. And candy cane just for good measure. I’m going to have to start bringing some into higher light and attempting to affix to vertical walls or move to back of the scape and hopefully keep them in view. 😫 I just can’t decide which or where and would just be easier if I had less.

My OG SBB hammers are kinda the jewels. They are doing so well and have colored up wonderfully, mostly taking priority. But the purple hammer was such an easy pop of color it’s not likely to be hid as well.

The ladies 200$ torch (I couldn’t even pull the trigger on an$150 worm rock) has to be kept in good spirits. It’s kind of the brokerage of a peace deal between our nations. It’s huge and has been working on splitting for months but it’s such a huge head.

The other torches (late additions) are splitting and thriving but need their own rooms. But it’s complicated with the other corals that are already happy and situated. Not to mention frogspawn too. Oh yea and the bubble coral. And the clam has priority rights too.

I’ll figure it out I just needed to write a privileged melodrama. I needed to have practiced abstinence with my wallet.

Where in PA are you?? I'm about an hour west of Philly in the Chester Springs area.

Running into a similar predicament at the moment...I recently ordered a bunch of hammers/torches/frogspawn and have had them sitting in the frag rack on my front glass. It's driving me nuts, but I'm struggling with placement. I feel like you have a decent amount of space there to squeeze them in - especially if your light coverage will allow you to put them close-ish to some of the zoas without having to be too worried about shading them out..then again I do see some SPS so the lighting may be a bit high in those spots. It looks like you have some room on the side rock structures, and possibly in the low-center area, directly behind where some of them are in the sand.
U can do it.jpg

I have much more vertical aquascape, and a bunch of coral already mounted throughout the tank, so I feel your pain. I finally worked up the motivation to mount 3 frogspawn and a frammer on Saturday, along with 3 or 4 hammers that I mounted last week...I still have 4 torches sitting on the frag rack. To make matters worse, I also added 3 goni's recently, so I had a way more low/medium light flowy-LPS than I probably had space to accommodate lol. I think the torches may end up front & center on a couple of small rocks that are open, anywhere else they'll likely get too much flow/light and sting other coral.

This pic is a few weeks old, from before my last couple orders arrived. It took some rearranging of my zoa/acan islands on the bottom to get some of the LPS/softie additions placed. I ended up mounting the 4 frogspawn under the shelves on the left hand side along the back side of the swimthrough/arch where they're not getting blasted with flow, and are somewhat shaded. The hammers went on the center rock structure and seem pretty happy there for about a week now. I'm pretty sure they're all getting 200+ par though, so I have been keeping a close eye on them.

Now I just need to find a home for the 4 torches on the frag rack...it's a very bright and flowy reminder to be a bit less trigger-happy when coral shopping, and it's front & center of my tank! lol

Well if you have to you can keep the hammers and frogspawn in close quarters together as well as most torches with their own kind.

So bigger tank?

Beautiful LPS btw.
Ah lol I WISH I have terrible luck. Already had to use my “buy new tank without argument” card on account of a ticking seam. That’s the dream though.

Thanks! Might have overcompensated when I realized it was predominantly all tiny sps frags 😅

Thanks! The hammers are happy together. Frog just is. I thought I would have to space the torches out or they wouldn’t grow much? But if I’m wrong I’ll just keep em together, maybe even closer?

Literally! Wow. We are in the same boat. I’m basically in Lancaster btw.

The top of my structure gets 200+ easily and I was mostly saving it for easy/long aquacultured sps. And Zoas span the gap in between. Those might have to get moved. And/or bring up a torch or two to the 200 level and see.

Glad I’m not the only one! Makes me feel a little better and more like I can chill for a little while longer!

Get a new pic up!

Very cool - my mom's family is from that area! Actually made my first visit to That Fish Place recently when we were out there for birthday party. Got an awesome Rainbow BTA, an orange Ricordea frag and a Yellow Mimic Tang!

I'll have to snap some new pics when I get home from work today, I really like the way the frogspawn look where I mounted them.

But yep, too funny. We are absolutely in the same boat! Your tank looks great btw :)

TFP is decent, in waves. They get fish/shipments every Tuesday or Thursday and some times the stuff doesn’t last a day (specific clean up crew) or some fish don’t last through the weekend (sold that is). Haven’t figured out when they get coral in, doesn’t seem to be too often. But there’s a swap in 2 weeks!

That was my first time & I stopped in to use a gift card from Christmas. Seemed like the selection was pretty good, mostly LPS and softies. Bunch of cool fish.

Might have to check out the swap - my cousin was telling me he used to manage the fish dept. and told me the swaps are pretty cool!
